Kelly McCarthy grew up in North Ridgeville and moved her family back to the city in November of 2007. A 1989 graduate of North Ridgeville High School, Kelly went on to study sociology at The University of Akron. After earning her BA she worked at a halfway home for adult women being transitioned from prison back to society. In 1997 Kelly graduated with her Masters of Science Degree in Education from The University of Akron. She worked at Cleveland State University in the Department of Student Life during which time she met her now husband, Frank.

In September of 2005 Kelly and Frank welcomed their daughter Megan into the world. After moving her family to North Ridgeville, Kelly immediately got involved in the North Ridgeville Early Childhood PTA.

In May of 2011 Kelly was interviewed and appointed to the North Ridgeville School Board. In November of that same year Kelly was elected to fill the unexpired remaining term for that particular seat on the school board. In November 2013 Kelly was elected to her first four year term on the Board. Kelly proudly serves as an active member of the North Ridgeville Lions Club.

Kelly's passion is quality education for all students. She supports an educational environment that is safe and academically challenging. Kelly believes an educational system needs to be built on mutual respect for staff, faculty, students, community and the administration. Every child should be encouraged to reach their fullest potential and the school system should have the means to provide for the best quality for their students.
