North Ridgeville City Schools "Child Find" Process

Within the North Ridgeville City Schools we are constantly involved in the process of “Child Find.”  We are seeking out students ages birth through age 21 who may qualify for special education and related services as described in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) formerly known as IDEA (the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). When a child is suspected of having a disability that may require special education and related services the district may, with parent consent, initiate the process of conducting a multi-factored evaluation. The district is required by law to implement interventions for those students attending school before initiating a  multi-factored evaluation.

Public Participation Opportunity

The North Ridgeville City School District receives federal funding through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B grant to assist with the education of students with disabilities, ages 3-21.  Members of the community who would like to learn about and comment upon how the district intends to spend its federal IDEA funds are invited to contact Ms. Jacqueline Vance, Director of Pupil Personnel at 440-353-1136 or at [email protected].

Medicaid School Program

The North Ridgeville City School participates in the Medicaid School Program.  When students are initially identified to receive Special Education Services, NRCS team members will talk to parents to review Medicaid information and consent for the Medicaid School Program.  For more information please contact the Department of Pupil Personnel.
